A Month-By-Month Review of our 2007…

January: The New Year started quite busy for me – without any resolutions (doesn´t work for me), but I started my “huge after pregnancy weightloss journey” adding lots of sports to my diet. What can I say? It worked =)

February: A month stuffed with plannings – for Luis christening. The “big day” was on February 18th, a perfect day.

March: Things calmed down – and the ease and peace bestowed another Crohn´s flare-up. Definitely not funny :,(

April: We celebrated Luis 1st birthday with a blast – one of my personal highlights 2007. He started to walk on his 1st Birthday.

May: A busy month again – I reached my weightloss goal plus I started designing all the bloglayouts for Pimp Your Blog.

June: Besides the celebration of my 33rd birthday (*ewwww*) – the Pimp Your Blog Shop opened its gate and we celebrated Jersey´s Birthday as well. She started blogging that day.

July: My PILs came to visit us – family fun… and we´ve had 2 Birthday celebrations. My beautiful Mommy´s and Coffee2go´s 1st Birthday.

August: Happy 41st Birthday, my love! We celebrated Frank´s 41st sun-orbit with a rocking party. Luis fell in love for the first time.

September: Happy Birthday to my Daddy – see, there´s always a good reason to paaaarty =)
We´ve also made a few short trips… Germany didn´t have a “real summer” this year, but the weather has been surprisingly calm this September.

October: Another highlight in 2007: The Halloween Party at our home…. and the fact that October is the month I got pregnant again (no more details) *smile*

November: WOO-HOO! A positive pregnancy test!!! A great reason to go on a very belated summer vacation to Spain =)

December: The whole December was dominated by… Christmas. What else? The ultrasound pictures showing my pregnancy with a little bundle of joy made us feeling even more festive =)
Having a look at the Christmas picture you can see I´m getting rounder and rounder again – obviously =)

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and wishes on the announcement. It really means a lot to me!

All in all it 2007 has been a (mostly calm) year full of love and joy to me and mine – I hope yours as well!
Happy New Year, everyone! Stay as you are – love ya! May your 2008 be filled with happiness and blessings galore.

And now…

Giving THANKS November 22, 2007

I’ve never had to struggle to come up with things for which I am thankful.

On this day when we’re encouraged to take a moment to think about those things for which we are most thankful and I don’t even know where to begin.

I grew up in a nice home somewhere here in Germany, with parents who loved me and a special friend that I still count as the best friend I´ve ever had in the world. My grand-parents lived close by. We were healthy and happy. I am thankful for my memories.

Many years later, I found caring man who is intelligent, adorable and fun. Frank´s love leaves me speechless every day. I am thankful I´m allowed to spend my life with the best hubby I could ask for.

Our son Luis puts a huge smile on my face every single moment. He has grown so big, having started so little. I am thankful for the way he makes me want bo be a better mom, a better person every day, for his smile, for the joy he brings to our lives.

Did I mention the Jersey´s big slobbery puppy lips ready to lick my nose? No? I´m thankful for the furry diva. She was delivered in the “hubby package” – although I never wanted to be owned by a dog I cannot imagine my life without her anymore.

My parents – I’ve always loved my parents, but as I’ve grown older, I’m thankful that I can also call them my best friends and best grandparents who make Luis´days thousand times brighter because they are a part of his life.

I´m thankful for my parents-in-law. They are exactly the same… One of the most touching moments in my life has been Uschi naming me her daughter.

Who knows? Maybe someday there will be a sibling that Luis will count as his best friend in the world. I cherish that thought and I´m thankful for the possibilty to get pregnant again. The doctors worked wonders preventing me from passing away whilst pregnancy… and medicating me without disabling me from giving birth to a child again.

This brings me to health. Although I´m still sick I know I could be worse I know. At least I can walk, laugh, and still dress pretty nicely. Nothing makes you more grateful for good health than a little bit of pain. I´m grateful for my entire family´s health.

Our freedoms- I am grateful to live in a country where freedoms are still “free” and I do not have to fear daily bombings, or going to bed hungry, or becoming enslaved or persecuted. We live in a country which is free and save… A special thanks to all of you, who protect us from those that seek to destroy it. You are in our thoughts and prayers every day.

Our “3 D friends” we made throughout our life – these people are pretty much the coolest people we know. Some of them we haven´t seen for ages… we badly miss them – but we know it will be “as always” when we meet again.

YOU!

Happy Birthday, Daddy! September 17, 2007

Happy 63rd Birthday, Daddy!

My dad (or “Papili” as I call him) is the greatest and also happens to be one of the funniest person I know. I´m a huge fan of Dieter Nuhr, a German comedian and there isn´t anything Dieter Nuhr says that I don´t either roar or giggle over. My dad (sorry, Dieter!) is funnier.

He never fails to put a huge smile on my face and, besides the “usual stuff”, he helped me learn a couple of things:

  • I don´t need to be in awe just because he´s able to put a whole cookie into his mouth. I will be able to do so as well one day. Yup, definitely.
  • Never underestimate the power of a hot water bottle at the foot of your bed on a cold night.
  • Just because he used to tell stories about “when I was a boy” it doesn´t suit his little daughter to walk around telling people stories about when she “was a boy”.
  • Being pulled up the stairs in a sleeping bag and then being allowed to slide back down in said soft blankety parcel is extremely fun.
  • The best medicine when you feel nauseous is to put a wet towel on your belly
  • Sitting in the tree top of a beech tree is not eligible.
  • If I want to reach a certain goal, all I have to do is believe that I can do and it will happen.
  • He´ll love me, no matter what. And YES, I did LOTS of disagreeable stuff so far. He´s still there, loving me for who I am. Thank you, Papili!

This pretty cool guy is still young at heart. I´ll never forget the moment we entered Disney World some years ago. He seemed to transform into a five year old boy again within seconds.
Okay, there´s a huge human airbag decorating the place where other´s use to have a belly… but he´s still crisp after all these years *g* – in body and mind.

If I´ll ever make it to quiz show on TV my dad will be my “sports joker”. His knowledge is unbelievable. He is a walking and talking Wikipedia or Google. Whenever I have a (sports) questions I´d just ask my dad and give google a chance thereafter, just in case my dad would have no idea. Needless to say I never needed Google. =)

We love you, Papili! You´re the best dad, father-in-law and grandpa we can imagine. Your love for Luis, Frank, Jersey and me leaves us speechless every day. YAY! Happy Birthday to the bestest dad ever. May today be all that you hoped it would be.

It is my daddy´s birthday wish to take the entire family out to dinner, so we´ll be on our way to hug him soon. ♥

Have a great Monday, folks -

xoXOxo

And now…
… our moment of Homer J.:

Lisa: I still can’t believe we escaped from those horrible vampires.
Homer: But it was worth it to get back our Super Sugar Crisp cereal.
[singing] Can’t get enough of that Sugar Crisp.
Marge: [driving] I’m having a hard time seeing. Homer, did you remember to put the fog lights in?
Homer: [singing to the same tune] ‘Cause I forgot to put the fog lights in.
