Thank You June 13, 2007
Thank you all so SO much for your lovely comments, emails, shout-outs, phone calls, greeting cards, presents and visits. I´m amazed how many wonderful people thought of me and celebrated my 33rd birthday with me. So please take this as a small sign of my love and appreciation to all of you:
It seems I´ve been a good girl – my birthday was a blast… and I´ve done my homework, too. The (little late) Wiki Birthdate MEME is brought to you by courtesy of the one and only Captain “Give me 5″ Lifecruiser:
Go to Wikipedia and search for your birthday. Pick 3 events, 2 births, and a death to share in your blog. Let your readers know why you chose these.
3 Events that occured on June 11th:
1184 BC – Trojan War: Troy was sacked and burned, according to the calculations of Eratosthenes. - LilSanni loved to read Greek myths when she was a little one, especially those ones dealing with love and romance.
1962 – Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin become the only prisoners to apparently successfully escape from the prison on Alcatraz Island. No conclusive evidence has ever been found that they survived the escape attempt. - Visiting San Francisco is one of my dreams. I´d like to visit Alcatraz Island when I´m there, especially after watching the movie “The Rock” about 107 times. Do you remember this movie? It used Alcatraz as the base of hostage situation, starring Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage, with Ed Harris as a renegade general controlling the location of the rockets and renegades?
“Vaporized… blown to the sea…”
Hope I´ll be allowed to leave “The Rock” in one piece
1985 – A Fabergé Egg was sold for £1,375,00 in New York. - It´s obvious: I´m a huge Simpsons-Fan. Fabergé Eggs play an important role in some Simpsons episodes. Mr burns has about 12 Fabergé Eggs stashed away in a vault in his basement and Marge steals one to help raise money for charity, by hiding it in her trademark blue hair.

2 Births on June 11th:
1879 - Max Schreck, German actor (d. 1936)
- Who could resist to inform the Blogosphere about being born on the same day as Nosferatu? Me? No way! *LOL*
1910 - Jacques-Yves Cousteau, French explorer and inventor (d. 1997)
- Just 2 words: SCUBA diving!
1 death on June 11th:
1979 - John Wayne (Born Marion Morrison), American actor (b. 1907)
- Oh… tripping down memory lane… When I was a little one I sometimes was allowed to watch a movie with my daddy. I so loved to watch a “Western” with John Wayne, sitting on the couch with my dad. R.I.P., Mr Wayne!
So… when´s your birthday?
Did you wiki your birthdate already? If not, feel free to play!
Thanks again for enlighting my birthday,

Homer: How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?
All we were saying: June 4, 2007

Special thanks to Mo, the brilliant force behind Manic Monday, for choosing “PEACE” to be this weeks theme and for the pretty cool MM Peace globe, which I “borrowed” from him – and to Mimi for creating the 3rd Blogblast for peace. Get your Peace Globe today!
Back in 19something…
School was out 4ever… we were celebrating our very last day at school. The Abitur (diploma from German secondary school for university admission or matriculation) exams were about to start the next week. It´s a German tradtion to celebrate this very last day @ school with a blast. The graduated plan this special day for many many weeks. They make plans to disturb the lessons, so the other little students will get a day off to celebrate with the seniors.
We´ve been a class of rebels. The teachers were full of fear. They trembled with fear, racking their brains about what our plans could be. MUAHAHAHAAAA!
Well, what can I say… our last day at school was a huge surprise for everyone (especially the teachers) .
Our last day at school was a blast. A blast for peace – themed:
Everyone was dressed in a self-created Flower Power dress. We´ve planted a tree in the school´s inner countryard – with an engraved plate showing our names and the motto. Our “disturbing noise” was all of us singing John Lennon´s “Give peace a chance”:
Ev’rybody’s talking about
Bagism, Shagism, Dragism, Madism,
Ragism, Tagism
This-ism, That-ism, is-m, is-m, is-m
All we are saying is give piece a chance,
All we are saying is give piece a chance
C’mon
Ev’rybody’s talking about ministers,
Sinister, Banisters
And canisters, Bishops, Fishops,
Rabbis, and Pop eyes, Bye, bye, bye byes
All we are saying is give peace a chance,
All we are saying is give peace a chance
Let me tell you now
Revoluton, evolution, masturbation,
Flagellation, regulation, integrations,
Meditations, United Nations,
Congratulations
Ev’rybody’s talking about
John and Yoko, Timmy Leary, Rosemary,

You see, even the worst rebels were longing for peace… and they still are
Today, I´m a lucky mommy to Luis, many of my former dreams came true – many others didn´t. But one of my dreams is still up-to-date and will always be:

Homer: Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It’s what separates us from the animals … except the weasel.
